BISMARCK, N.D.

Families of North Dakota soldiers killed in the line of duty have received
memorial plaques at a state Capitol ceremony.

The Sacrifice for Freedom tribute includes events around the country to honor
fallen soldiers, giving their families memorials to keep in their homes. The
commander of the North Dakota National Guard, Maj. Gen. Dave Sprynczynatyk,
said it shows "the ultimate sign of respect."

"We will continue to remember what they paid, in the ultimate sacrifice, for
our freedoms," Sprynczynatyk said at Thursday's ceremony.
